A Christmas Tradition

The past eleven years we have trecked out to Vander Streek Acres and tromped through the tree fields looking for the perfect Christmas Tree. Christmas 2009 was no different.

Our Mission: Find the perfect Christmas tree

Armed with only a saw and w0rk gloves, we set off.

Searching...

We found suspects from the smallest...

to the tallest.

However, none fit the description we were looking for.

Tim took a break to oversee the others and wait to hear news of a possible tree.

Sharon and Katelyn were enjoying the assignment.

However, Jesse was getting a little discouraged.

So Tim hopped up to help continue in the search.

Jesse narrowed down the suspects to just this one, and called for
Tim to conduct the routine interview.
Tim agreed, this was the one.
Jesse began the dirty work.

Cutting. It. Down.

Well, that was quick.

Our next mission was to carry the tree out and get it home.
We gladly left Jesse to the handling of the tree.

Ta Da!
Mission Accomplished!

Katelyn had a Little Cat, Little Cat, Little Cat...

Once upon a time there lived a cat. One day he was discovered at Pella Christian High School. Because he was deemed unworthy of an education he was sentenced to a life at a farm where he lived happily ever after...or not.

Actually Katelyn was leaving school about a week before Thanksgiving and noticed she was being followed. She was attempting to ignore the feline at her feet while putting her bag in her trunk, but he made his presence known when he jumped into her trunk. Eventually he jumped back down, she closed the trunk and opened her car door. Before she could even put her purse inside he was on the drivers seat gazing longingly up at her. When she got in, he moved to her lap. "At this point I was hooked," reports Katelyn. She called her mom and her immediate response was to throw him out and drive away! "Katelyn refused!" Sharon states. Of course, Katelyn had the poor animal's well being in mind when she told Sharon she would hit him with the car. So through a turn of events his new home is here and the rest is history...

He is a very helpful cat: He helped put up Christmas lights

And with homework

he helps entertain the other cats

and make food

helpful in supervising the untangling of Christmas lights

he helped wrap presents by holding the ribbon

Oops, sometimes he gets distracted from helping and starts playing

and he helps...well I don't think he's helping here

Most importantly, he's never afraid to ask a question. Out of politeness he always raises his paw.

Now Tim, aren't you glad Katelyn brought him home from school one day, school one day, school one day... :)
